United Nations General Assembly proclaims 9 September as the International Day to Protect Education from Attack, mobilizing action to safeguard education in armed conflict

24 European Union States Have Now Committed to Protect Education

(New York, April 4, 2020) –  The Government of Estonia has endorsed the Safe Schools Declaration, becoming the 103rd country to commit to safeguarding education during armed conflict, said the Global Coalition to Protect Education from Attack (GCPEA) today.

The Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen says it has begun judicial proceedings against military personnel suspected of violating international humanitarian law.

Spokesman Col Turki al-Maliki said judgements in the unspecified cases would be announced once reached.

Investigate Abuses; Ensure Justice

(Nairobi) – Armed separatists in Cameroon’s Anglophone regions kidnapped over 100 people, burned property, and threatened voters in the period before the February 9, 2020 elections. State security forces did not adequately protect civilians from the threats posed by the separatists but rather committed further abuses against them during the same period.
